To carry out the research in the CAO Programme, scientific cruises are essential to collect data on changes in the Arctic Ocean and samples for later analysis in the laboratory. The first CAO cruise took place in July/August 2017 and went to the Barents Sea. More cruises are planned for 2018 and 2019.
Through international collaboration with research programmes and projects organised in other countries, the Changing Arctic Ocean investigators have additional opportunities to sample in the Arctic.
CAO 2018 Cruises (JR17005, JR17006, JR17007)
In 2018, three month-long cruises will visit different parts of the Arctic to collect samples. The investigators will once again be on-board the RRS James Clark Ross.
