Thawing permafrost – an underestimated threat to global climate

This spring, the United Nations named the thawing of permafrost soils one of the five underestimated environmental hazards.
Dr Jens Strauss, co-lead investigator of the CACOON project, gives an interview about the research he and his colleagues are conducting in Siberia. They are investigating how the thawing of soils that have been frozen for thousands of years affects the climate.
